Hello again!

A support group is a very good idea and I will gladly become a member. Even if I donīt feel that I have much advice to give, since nothing of what I did helped me when I had problems. It just got worse and worse no matter how careful I was.

If I become pregnant again, however, I will try two new things: acupuncture and taking magnesium. I have heard of two women who were given the advice to take magnesium when the hip pain started and their problems disappeared. It might be just a coincidence, but I will be willing to try anything. Have you ever heard about the effect of magnesium on hip pain? I have also read an article about a woman who started to eat a very strict diet (almost like a vegan I think) and she did not have any problems during her next pregnancy (her fifth!). But I donīt think that I could endure such a diet.

I wonder if hip pain is a condition that has increased in our generation or if it was never recognized as a serious problem before? I know that one of my mumīs friends had it so bad that she had to stay in bed, and she must be around 50 now. I have also met another 50 year-old woman who had to be in a wheelchair when she had her first child.

I also wonder if it really is more common in Scandinavia or if it just that we are taken more seriously and donīt get brushed off with the answer that it is normal to have back pain during pregnancy, what do you think? All those American women who have written to you seem to have just been ignored.

Bye for now! Johanne Ländin
